How LiDAR Yield Estimation Works
Point Clouds: Laser pulses reflect off leaves, branches, and the ground to create a 3D digital map called a point cloud.
Height and Density Metrics: Computers measure canopy height, crown diameter, and vegetation cover from the scan data.
Allometric Models: Foresters combine these LiDAR measurements with sample field plots using regression models to calculate total volume, basal area, and biomass across the entire forest
